On Monday, 8 December 2025, as part of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, the TPO Foundation, in cooperation with the Mixed Secondary School in Zenica, held a presentation on research into menstrual poverty. The presenters were Professors Dr. Zilka Spahić Šiljak and Dr. Edisa Gazetić from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zenica, and the event was moderated by Lamija Subašić.

In the packed hall of the Public Institution Mixed Secondary School Zenica, the professors discussed the results of the conducted research on menstrual poverty, as well as its cultural and economic aspects, femicide, and the position of women and men in society. The aim of the panel discussion was to strengthen the awareness of both women and men regarding the rejection of “taboo” topics and the removal of culturally rooted stigmas.

Additionally, the presenters offered a historical overview of the mechanisms used to uphold unwritten rules about what is considered clean or unclean, what is natural or unnatural, as well as the ways in which society encodes unwritten norms of acceptability and unacceptability of certain phenomena. Particular focus was placed on the issue of further engagement in raising social awareness.
