As part of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence”, two educational workshops were held at the Public Secondary Business, Commercial and Trade School Sarajevo from November 27-28, 2025, with the aim of raising awareness among young people about the issue of gender-based violence, its causes, consequences, and prevention. Workshops were implemented by the teacher, Medina Fazlić.
The first workshop was held on November 27, 2025, and carried the same title as the campaign itself – “16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence.” Students from classes I-b1 and III-1 participated in the workshop, which was facilitated by Professor Medina Fazlić. The goal of the workshop was to introduce students to the importance of the campaign, explain why these dates are significant, and explore how young people can actively contribute to the prevention of violence. Through discussion and interactive activities, students had the opportunity to exchange views, ask questions, and develop a stronger sense of social responsibility.
The second workshop, held on November 28, 2025, focused on the topic “Media and Religion” and involved students from classes II-1 and IV-b2. The workshop aimed to explain how violence is sometimes justified through distorted interpretations of religion, as well as how the media often contributes to the normalization of violence through sensationalist reporting. Students were introduced to key mechanisms for countering such harmful narratives, including the development of media literacy, critical thinking, and responsible engagement with information.
Both workshops were facilitated by Professor Medina Fazlić and were conducted with the support of the TPO Foundation, the ETOS Initiative, and the FER School. Through these activities, students were empowered to recognize various forms of violence, understand its broader social dimensions, and actively contribute to building a safer, fairer, and more equal school and social environment.
Through these activities, the Public Secondary Business, Commercial and Trade School Sarajevo once again demonstrated its strong commitment to educating young people in the spirit of nonviolence, tolerance, solidarity, and active citizenship.
